The profile
Stari Hrast winery was established in 2008, when many ideas for a new “wine Serbia” were emerging in the country. Its vision has remained the same ever since: a family business with its own plantings, run by the family itself and supported by leading wine and spirits specialists. The name comes from a 200-year-old oak in the vineyard, remembered even by the oldest residents of the area.
The estate farms twelve hectares of vines and fifteen hectares of orchards with plums, pears, apricots and quinces on the windswept plateau above the village of Žirovnica in Šumadija. All products are made exclusively from hand-picked fruit from the estate’s own plantings, with harvest timing aligned to the optimum biological ripening cycle. The Stevanović family’s distilling tradition has been documented in writing since 1805.
