- Overview
Merlot Selection by Stari Hrast is a select Merlot bottling from Šumadija – a quality level above the house's basic wine. The selection from better sites and longer aging results in a more concentrated, complex expression.
- In the Glass
Deep ruby red to garnet; dense, intense color with good opacity.
- On the Nose
Black cherry, plum, and cassis with notes of chocolate, clove, and vanilla. The oak aging is subtle but present. With aeration, tobacco and leather emerge.
- On the Palate
Medium to full-bodied, well-integrated tannins, harmonious acidity. More concentrated than the basic wine, with a longer finish and more layering.
- Food Pairing
Roast beef, lamb chops, mushroom dishes, pasta al ragù, mature cheeses.
