A cellar beneath the sea

Kraken Underwater Cellar in the Bay of Kotor uses the sea as an ageing cellar: constant pressure and a steady temperature shape the wines, which the producer says age considerably faster than in a traditional cellar. In its own experience, the best results come from around 20 metres deep and one year of storage. Đuro Janković and Nemanja Božović look after the wines.

The range includes the white wines Tamjanika and Žilavka, a rosé and the red wine Runjevac; for the Swiss market, it also includes Crmnički Vranac, which matures for one year at a depth of 20 to 30 metres off the Montenegrin coast and comes in a bottle covered with coral and algae. A floating wine bar complements the offering.
