The profile
Ivanović is one of the pioneering wineries of Serbia’s new wine scene, operating from a family home in Aleksandrovac in the Župa region. It was founded in 1919 by great-grandfather Dragoslav I. Ivanović; in 1996, his grandson of the same name, known as Gaga, re-registered wine production. Today, Ivan and Nadežda lead the fourth generation.
The grapes come from a total of 13 hectares, of which 3.2 hectares are estate-owned and the remainder belong to long-standing contracted growers in Župa; the vines average around 60 years old, with the oldest plantings dating to 1903. The vineyards lie on the southern slopes of the Župa valley at 260 to 400 metres, with white limestone soil at the highest point.
The estate has farmed organically since 2005 and has produced certified organic wines since the 2021 vintage; annual production is 50'000 to 60'000 bottles, fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts.
