Royal cellar traditions in Vinča
Aleksandrović has been one of Serbia’s most renowned wineries for years and cultivates just under 75 hectares of vineyards in Šumadija. Its main varieties are Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Muscat Hamburg.
Even before the Second World War, the region’s vineyards were considered royal sites with a European reputation; its hilly landscape and shared latitude have earned it the name “Tuscany of Serbia”. In 1992, the family revived the Oplenac area’s winemaking tradition in Vinča – the same year that former royal cellar master Živan Tadić sent back the original recipe for the royal wine Trijumf from Canada.
Today, the winery points to over 200 medals at international competitions, and its Trijumf Chardonnay 2009 sparkling wine was named the best sparkling wine outside Champagne by Manfred Klimek.
