Bordeaux inspiration, Šumadija origins

Vinarija Vladimir is a garage winery in the village of Banja near Topola, around 75 kilometres from Belgrade, in the heart of Šumadija. It produces limited quantities of around 3'000 to 4'000 bottles of artisan red wine – deliberately the opposite of mass production, with Bordeaux’s garage wineries as its model. The vines were planted in 2007; the vineyard of around 1.2 hectares, neglected in the intervening years, was taken over and restored in 2014.

The grapes come exclusively from this one vineyard, keeping the entire process under control. The wines mature for 36 to 40 months, including 12 to 24 months in French barriques from Radoux and Nadalie and a further 12 to 24 months in bottle. The owner and initiator is Vladimir Živanović, who leaves production to his expert team: oenologist Dr.

Marko Malićanin, winemaker Ferdinand Mayr from the Austrian Wine Academy and viticulture specialist Dr. Saša Matijašević.
